Men Behaving Badly
(television series)
ITV
S1E1  Intruders
This sitcom began with Gary
Strang (Martin Clunes) and
Dermot Povey (Harry Enfield)
as flatmates.  Gary's girlfriend,
Dorothy Martin/Bishop
(Caroline Quentin) is often at
the flat and the new neighbor,
Deborah Burton (Leslie Ash)
moves in upstairs in the first
episode. Deborah is
continually pursued by first
Dermot and then Tony.

The show was originally meant
to showcase Harry Enfield
and he persuaded Martin
Clunes to join the cast.  After
the first series, Harry decided
to bow out and the flatmate
was recast with Neil Morrisey
playing Tony Smart.

After the second series was
broadcast, ITV decided to
cancel the show.  The show
was picked up by BBC and put
into a later time slot and this
allowed them to go in a much
bolder direction.

Gary is the manager of a
small security sales office and
owns the flat where they
are living.  He loves Dorothy,
but is clueless about how to
make her happy, so
they split up and get back
together a few times over the
show's run.  Gary is really a
gently soul, but he continually
gets into mischief with Tony.
