Desk Area
.
This area is a very cluttered, complicated area.  It consists of:  A file cabinet with
lots of objects on top
; a small square window that always contains several
items; a wooden and glass corner display cabinet sitting against the file cabinet
(appears in S2, S3, S4, S5, S7) which is not only filled with items inside, but also
displays
items on top; a hanging wooden cabinet with glass doors behind the
desk
that is always filled with boxes, teapots, teacups, and other decorative
items; the receptionist's desk with computer, phone, lamps, pen cups, and often
lots of knick knacks; the wall to the left of the desk which always has something
hanging there; and a window seat that usually has several decorative pillows.

For each series I will show pictures of each of these areas and only mention

items that reoccur in other series or places, and items that stand out.  There's
just too much to discuss every single item.
.
.
Series 1
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
This mint colored file cabinet is the first of
3 different ones we will see through S8.
On top are a pair of teapots, cups, and a
pair of magazine/brochure holders.  In the
windowsill are a grouping of potted cacti
and a brown radio.  To the right of the file
cabinet is a wooden table that matches
the one in the Front Left Corner, and on
the table is a printer.  There's a calendar
hanging on the wall next to the printer.
.
.
.
.
This cabinet always has a lot of various items, and they often
move around from episode to episode.  In the corner, under the
cabinet, are a large grouping of small cabinets with drawers.
These will disappear after this series.
.
.
.
.
The desk in S1 is a metal desk with a wooden
top.  The chair is blue fabric with black arms.
Occasionally, one of the brown plaid chairs from
the back wall is brought over to sit next to the
desk.  Just about everything you see here (desk,
chair, computer, phone, lamp, orange trays) will be
gone in the next series.  The only thing that
remains is the purple glass mosaic pencil cup -
which will be in use all the way through S4.

The phone in this series is a very strange design -
with some type of monitor.
.
.
.
.
.

On the wall is a large planner.  The
window seat has a pad on the seat (the
only series where a pad appears here)
and a crocheted pillow.

Series 2
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
The file cabinet in this series is light grey
and has several stickers on the drawers.
On top are 4 small cacti in clay pots, a
ceramic kitty, and a black metal round
dome task lamp.  A model of a Volkswagen
Bug appears here on and off all through
the series.  In the Christmas Special, new
potted cacti appeared and the fabric
covered box that was on top of the wall
cabinet has moved to the file cabinet.
Also, in that episode, the black lamp is
gone and replaced by the green metal task
light that was in the Front Left Corner
during S2.

Next to the file cabinet is a wooden corner
cabinet with a glass door.  The inside is
always filled with various items that are
usually not identifiable.  On top this
series are a couple of small potted plants,
a clay covered bowl, what appears to be a
jam jar(?) and a starfish.  In the Christmas
Special, there was just one small potted
plant and a model of a Volkswagen Bus.

In the windowsill is a decorative metal
box, a small metal pitcher, several more
small clay pots (one with a cactus), and a
large radio that will remain in this area
every series.  For the Christmas Special,
all was removed except for the radio.
There was a model sailboat with blue sails
added and another item I couldn't identify.
.
.
.
.
This wall cabinet continues to have lots of items, but in this series there
were 3 pieces attached to the outside of the cabinet.  A small black and
white item that resembles a lighthouse hung from the knob.  Hanging
on the left side of the cabinet was a bright multicolored bag.  On top of
the cabinet was a fabric covered box that moved over to on top of the
filing cabinet for the Christmas Special.  In the Christmas Special, the
round ceramic canister is moved into the cabinet.  It had been on the
table along the left wall during S2.  It will remain as a permanent fixture
in this cabinet.

There is a new L-Shaped desk, so all of the small cabinets have been
removed from the back corner.  The same wooden table is still there
but holding a new printer.
.
.
.
.
The metal and wood desk from S1 has been
replaced with a wooden L-shaped desk (this desk
remains permanently).  Pauline's chair is a wooden
rolling desk chair with wooden arm rests and black
leather seat and back.

There is a new black (slightly chunky) computer
monitor, a white phone (more traditional type than the
one from S1), a black fax machine, a brass gooseneck
lamp with light green glass shade in the back corner,
a larger dark green metal task lamp by the computer
monitor (this lamp becomes a permanent fixture), a
blue and silver mouse pad with built in calculator, and
the purple mosaic pencil cup from S1.  Next to the
desk is a round, dark brown trash receptacle.

There were a couple of notable changes in the
Christmas Episode.  In the back corner of the desk
there is a black metal box under the fax machine -
possibly the computer tower lying sideways?  A new
black telephone replaces the white one, and a new
computer monitor (the only time we see that one).  On
the desk is a model of an ear - Pauline was reading
nursing magazines, so maybe she was studying?
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
There is a new corkboard with light
wood frame above the desk.  Under
the window seat is what seems to be a
portable heater (this will become a
permanent fixture in this space).

Not a lot of changes in this area.  The
same file cabinet and wooden corner
cabinet with many of the same pieces on
top.  The fabric box from the Christmas
Special is still on top of the file cabinet
with several different clay pots filled with
cacti.  A new item there is a wooden box
with what appears to be round white inlaid
circles on the sides and a slit in the top.

The radio has moved down to the top of
the corner cabinet and is joined by one of
several different sized glass bottles with
ships inside.  Behind the radio is a round
orange tray with painted flowers.

The ceramic cat and the model Volkswagen
Bug have moved to the windowsill and are
joined by another of the ships in bottles
and a white planter with some type of
wispy plant.
.
.
.
.
.
.
No major changes.  Some new
items inside the hanging cabinet -
but the round canister remains on
the bottom shelf.  The table
underneath holding the printer is
gone.  We won't see a printer
visible in this room again until
S6.  But there does seem to be
one under the desk - that's
where we see Martin reach
down to retrieve the form he
printed for Pauline's phlebotomy
class.  Same desk and same chair.

The computer tower sits on the
back corner of the desk this
series.  Starting this series, the
fax machine is now also used as
the telephone.  There is a new,
distinctive looking computer
monitor.  The dark green metal
task lamp, the purple mosaic
pencil cup, and the mouse pad
with the built in calculator are
still all there.  There's also a
black metal locking cash box that
was first spotted in the Christmas
Special - it tends to move around
the desk.  Next to the desk is a
round silver mesh trash
receptacle.
.
The same corkboard is hanging over the
desk and Pauline's phlebotomy
certificate hangs next to it.   There is just
one green and white pillow on the
window seat.

Series 4
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Very little has changed in this series.  The
same file cabinet is there, and on top is the
fabric box, the Volkswagen Bus, and the
various cacti - but this time in colorfully
painted pots.  The round white tray that
was in the Back Right Corner in S3 has
been moved here to hold the pots.  The
one new item is a blue ceramic parrot
surrounded by air ferns.

The radio is still on top of the corner
cabinet and is joined by one of the brown
footed bowls that are scattered around

the Consulting Room.  For some odd
reason, in Episode 6 the radio is turned

to the back, the bowl disappears, and the
Volkswagen Bus is moved in its place.  In
Episode 7 the radio is turned to the front,
but in Episode
8 it's backwards again?

The windowsill still has the white planter
with a new plant, the ceramic kitty, the
Volkswagen Bug, and a new small domed
box.
.
.
.
Nothing new about the wall
cabinet, but I see a couple of
items that look familiar.  We still
have the same desk and chair.
Remaining on the desk are the
fax-phone machine, green metal
task lamp, black metal cash box,
and purple mosaic pencil cup.
The computer tower is no longer
on the desk, the mouse
pad/calculator is gone, and

there is a new, slimmer
computer monitor.  There are a
couple of notable new items.

The orange tray that was behind
the radio in
S3 now sits behind
the monitor holding potted
plants. There is a small pretty
china vase with china flowers, a
toy motor scooter, a cactus in a
bright yellow pot, anda LOT of
other things.  Frankly, in this
series, Pauline's desk is a

mess.  One other notable
addition is the introduction of
the purple striped sock monkey.
He first appears in Episode 4 -
which is after the episode where
Martin sees the ultrasound

picture of his new baby.  This
toy will pop up all over the
building from now on.
.
The corkboard has
disappeared and Pauline's
certificate is alone on the
wall.  On the window seat
are 2 new pillows and the
quilted one that was
originally in the Christmas
Special.

Series 5
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Lots of changes with Dr Dibbs taking over
the practice.  There is a new, bright green
filing cabinet.  On top is the radio we've
come to know, a couple of clay potted
plants, the little domed box from the
windowsill in S4, and a new small blue
ceramic planter.

On top of the corner cabinet is a large
wooden bowl with an attached wooden
handle - there are a couple of unidentified
objects inside.

On the windowsill is a plant in a light

brown ceramic pot.  This pot was on the
table along the Left Wall in S3.  There are

2 more small light brown/light green pots
that are similar to the blue one on the

filing cabinet (and there is a 2nd blue
one inside the wall cabinet behind the
desk).  In Episode
8 there is some type of
plant in the small blue pot, and we will

see these small pots used for plants in
the next few series.
.
.
.
When Gavin Dibbs is setting up
the office, he has the wall cabinet
doors open and you can see a
little more of the contents.  The
round ceramic canister is visible
on the bottom shelf (has been
there since the S2 Christmas
Special and will be there
permanently), the 2nd small blue
ceramic planter is on the middle
shelf, and next to it looks like the
lighthouse that was on the back
wall in S2, 3 & 4.  The day that
Morwenna takes over, the small
green Buddha head appears.  It
was first seen in the Consulting
Room in S4 and spends the rest
of S5 in this cabinet.  Also, the
ear model that was on Pauline's
desk in S2E9 is now seen on the
bottom shelf.
.
There is a new corkboard
with green background
and a light grey frame.  A
strange dog painting
hangs to the right of the
corkboard.

A wooden armchair now
sits in front of the desk,
and there are no pillows
this series on the window
seat.

We have the same desk, but a new chair that has a blue
fabric seat and back - with no arms.  The fax/phone combo,
green metal task lamp, black metal cash box, and computer
monitor are all the same.  But the purple mosaic pencil cup
is now gone - replaced by a light green/purple ceramic cup.
The small footed dark brown bowl sits on the side of the

desk and the large basket that was in the Back Right Corner
last series now sits behind the monitor holding a potted

plant.  Morwenna has far fewer items on the desk, but
seems to have more paperwork.  In several episodes there
is a smaller radio on the desk - it also appears in the
kitchen several times in this series.  There is a black mesh
trash receptacle next to the desk.

Series 6
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
We still have the bright green file cabinet.
On top is the radio, a large and a small
ship in bottle and a lucite pamphlet rack.

The corner cabinet is missing in this

series and in one episode we have a
glimpse in that space of the wooden
magazine rack that was at the Back Wall

in S5.  Interestingly, we also get one
glimpse of this piece in the Living

Room in this series.

On the windowsill are the small ceramic
light green & blue planters, a white
ceramic cup with painted flower & leaves,
the large basket that was behind the
monitor last series - but empty now, and a
tall blue glass "bubble" vase.  The blue
vase has disappeared near the end
of the series.
.
.
.
Not a lot of change this series.
The wall cabinet is much the
same - although the small
Buddha head has moved into
the Kitchen.  We have the same
desk, chair, fax/phone, green
metal task lamp, computer
monitor, and pencil cup.  There is
now a large printer at the back
corner of the desk, and the only
other new items of note are two
bright pink cases.  One looks like
an oversized zippered coin
purse with raised multicolor
balls on the surface.  The other
has white stars and looks like it
might be a small makeup bag (we
had a glimpse of this bag in S5).
.
No change on the wall
above the desk.  The
same corkboard and
strange dog painting from
last series.  The wooden
side chair is still in front of
the desk.  There is one
new brocade pillow on the
window seat.

Series 7
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
The green filing cabinet is still here, and on
top are 3 of the small ceramic planters -
this time all 3 are holding daffodils.
Behind them is a large white vase, what
appears to be a coffee thermos, and a
small decorative white box.  Later in the
series, the daffodils have been removed
and different succulents planted in the
small planters and one larger plant is
added in the back.  The large white vase is
moved to on top of the corner cabinet and
the thermos disappears.

The wooden corner cabinet is back after a
one series absence.  On top is the familiar
radio.  In Episode 3, when there are
several scenes of Radio Portwenn being
played in the room, a smaller radio (that
was on the Back Wall earlier in this series)
shows up on the file cabinet and then on
Morwenna's desk.  In that episode the
larger, more familiar radio, disappears
from atop the corner cabinet and we don't
see it the rest of this series - but the large
white vase that was on top of the file
cabinet has taken its place.  After this
episode, the smaller radio will sit on top of
the corner cabinet in front of the large
white vase.  We can see that inside the
corner cabinet this series are a couple of
the ships in bottles and a new item - a
small woven burro.  One of the ships in a
bottle is added on top of this cabinet later
in this series.

In the windowsill is the large wooden bowl
that was on top of the corner cabinet in S5
and on the Back Wall in S6.  There are also
2 different teacups plus the other blue
small planter and the white cup with the
painted flower - all holding plants, and
another one of the ships in a bottle (There
seem to be 3 of them in graduated sizes).
.
.
.
The wall cabinet is mostly unchanged.  The
desk is the same, but there are 2 major new
items.  Morwenna has a new chair - similar to
the previous one, but with a light blue fabric
seat and back.  For some reason, a striped
throw is draped over the back of the chair for
the entire series.  The other new item is a
brand new phone - the old fax/phone that was
there since S2 is gone.  This new phone sits
at the right side of the desk.  We still have the
same printer, green metal task lamp,

computer monitor, pencil cup, and pink
cases.  The small round wicker basket with lid
that was in the Front Left Corner the 2

previous series has moved to the desk.  At
the beginning of the series, there is a
flowering plant behind the monitor and
mostly hidden behind it is a round green
bucket collecting donations for the Lifeboat
Association (although its never referenced in
the show).  You can catch a glimpse of the

logo and it matches the one on the clothing
worn by Steve and Gerry.  Later in the series,
both items disappear and a few times we see
one of the plants moved over from the
windowsill.  The last few episodes have

nothing behind the monitor.
.
The items on the wall are
unchanged.  There is an
orange cushion on the
chair in front of the desk.
On the window seat are the
same brocade pillow from
S6 and a new striped one.
An orange waste receptacle
sits below the seat.

Series 8

The same green file cabinet is there and
on top are the two small blue ceramic
planters, the large white vase, the light
brown ceramic planter (it was against the
Left Wall in S3 and in the windowsill in

S5), and the small woven burro.  At one
point in the series, one of the ships in

the bottle shows up there.

The wooden corner cabinet is gone

again.  It originally arrived in S2 and was
there through S5.  It was gone in S6, but
back again in S7.  There is a small orange
woven trash receptacle on the floor in its
place - it appears to be the same one we
saw under the window seat in S7.

On the windowsill, the large radio is back -
although it moves from side to side.  The
ceramic cat is also back, along with the 2
teacups and white cup all holding cacti.
.
.
.
Not a lot of changes again this series - the
wall cabinet doesn't seem to have changed
contents.  There is another new chair for
Morwenna.  But this one is not really new -
it's the one that Dr Dibbs brought into the
Surgery.  It was used in the Consulting Room
in just S5 and has been missing until it turned
up in this room for S8. The stripped throw
from the chair in the last series sits on the
seat of this chair all series, and a couple of
times we saw a plain green pillow against the
back of the chair.  The same printer, phone,
green metal task lamp, computer monitor,
pencil cup, and small round wicker basket
with lid are on the desk.  Also, both bright
pink cases are back - the one with the
multicolor dots and the one with the white
stars.  There are also a couple of cups being
used as pencil cups, a rubber band ball, a
new owl statue, and a pitcher holding dried
flowers behind the monitor.  This pitcher is
familiar because we saw Bert using several
of them in S5 at Spanish Night at his
restaurant, and he also used several of them
this series in Episode 1 during the party the
night before Penhale's non-wedding.
.
The items on the wall are
still the same, but a hand
sanitizer dispenser has
been added on the right.
The orange cushion
remains on the chair and
both pillows are the same
on the window seat.

Series 9
.
.
.
.In the first three episodes
.
.
.
.
The green file cabinet is still there.  On top
are the large white vase that's been there
since S7, the ceramic cat that has been all
around this room since S2, and the bird
sculpture that was in the window on the
back wall in S8.  There are also a pile of
books and a couple of new items.  There
are three identical items that I just can't
identify.  They look almost like squat soda
pop bottles.  There's also a small black,
red & gold cup that looks like it matches
the bottles. A slightly larger green & white
cup sits next to it - that cup sat on
Morwenna's desk in S8.  In the first three
episodes a white teacup sat at the far left
edge of the file cabinet.

The radio that has been in this area since
S2 is still in the windowsill.  It's joined by
the ceramic owl that sat on Morwenna's
desk in S8 and three new items - a green
ceramic planter, a white ceramic cup with
a grey painted lacy edge at the top and
bottom, and a white ceramic cup with
painted flower and leaves.
.
.
A lot of the same things in the wall cabinet,
but a few new items, including an afghan that
is very similar to the one that sits on the
stool against the right wall.  You can see in
the pictures that some things do move
around during the series.  Note that the
ceramic canister that has been in this cabinet
since the Christmas Special in S2 is still
sitting on the bottom shelf.

Morwenna has the same chair since last
series and the stripped throw is still thrown
over the back.  The same printer, phone,
green metal task lamp, lilac pencil cup, small
round wicker basket with lid, rubber band
ball, and two pink cases with multicolor balls
and white stars remain from last series.  Also
the brown pitcher with dried flowers behind
the monitor.  She has a new monitor this
series and several new items on the desk: a
round floral tin, a floral tape measure, a short
chunky amber tumbler, and a short cream and
blue decorated box.  Also, we saw the front of
the blue mug that was holding pencils last
series - the front is decorated with fish -
perfect for Portwenn!
.
The items on the wall have
not changed.  The orange
cushion that used to be
on the chair is now on the
window seat, along with
the two pillows that have
been there for several
series.  An addition to the
window seat is the green
pillow that was on the
back of Morwenna's chair
a few times in S8.

Front Left Corner
.
This is a very small and simple area of the room.  It is the section of wall between
the front window and the doorway to the vestibule, and usually has something
hanging on the wall.  Most series there is a small table holding a lamp and an
ornament or two.

In this series there is a corkboard on the wall with a small "No Smoking" sign
above.  The small wooden table is one of a pair that we see in this room most of
the time - one here and one against the Left Wall. In S1 and S2 one was behind the
desk holding the printer (a different table was against the Left Wall in S1 and
another different table was in the Front Left Corner in S2).  On the table this series
is a lamp with a twisted wooden stem and a light green shade.  Pamphlets cover
the table top and the bottom shelf.
.
.
Series 1
.
.
In this series, the corkboard is still in place, but the "No Smoking" sign is gone.
There is a new splayed leg wooden table here - although it will only be for one
series and then become a permanent fixture in the Consulting Room.  There is a
green metal gooseneck lamp on the table, but there are actually two different

ones that swap out several times throughout the series.  One looks older, and
is darker green.  The other one is more modern and is light green.
.
.
Series 2
.
.
.
The corkboard remains on the wall, the familiar wooden table returns, and the
light green gooseneck lamp is on the table for the entire series.
.
.
Series 3
.
.
.
The corkboard is still on the wall, but it now has a more formal frame around it.
The table is gone again and there is just a single chair in its place.  This chair is
part of a set - two matching chairs are sitting against the right wall in this series.
There is also a radiator against this wall - there are several radiators that
appeared in the Surgery just in S4.
.
.
Series 4
.
.
.
For this series, the familiar table has returned and the radiator gone after just
one series appearance.  On the table is a new multi colored pottery lamp.
Another new item is a small round wicker basket with lid.  On the wall is a tall
painting of a wooden chair holding a vase full of daisies.  We had a glimpse of

this same painting in S3 when it was hanging in the hall just outside of Louisa's
bedroom.
.
.
Series 5
.
.
.
There is still nothing on the wall.  The multicolored pottery lamp is back.  After
being on this table in S5 and 6, it moved over to the Left Wall in S7, but with a
different shade.  It has now moved back but with a third different shade.  A large
acrylic brochure rack has been added to the table, so only the larger of the
miniature cottages is on top.  The smaller one has been moved to the bottom
shelf.  A new patient chair has been added to the right of the table.  This chair is
almost identical to the patient chairs in the consulting room in S2, but the wood
finish is lighter and the leather back and seat are a different color.
.

.
.
.

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

.
.
.

Not much changed this series.  The daisy painting is gone - moved to the
vestibule - and the wall is blank.  The same table, lamp, and small wicker basket
are there.  They have added one of the ships in a bottle to the table.

In this series, again there is nothing on the wall, but everything on the tabletop
has changed.  We have a new, shorter lamp.  It seems to be a light green plain
ceramic lamp with a plain shade.  There are two miniature cottages - a larger one
in reds and browns, and a smaller china one.

This area is very spare in this series.  Again, nothing on the wall.  There is a new
wooden candlestick style lamp on the table.  The only other items on the table are
several types of brochures.  The miniature cottages from last series have been
moved to the back right corner.

The Waiting Room is the busiest room in the building.  There are usually several patients
waiting to see the Doc, so there are lots of patient chairs against the walls.  The furniture
evolved during S1 and by S2 a lot of it was established for the remainder of the show, with a
few pieces moving in and out of the room from series to series.  It was impossible to capture
everything - especially in the Desk Area, but I've tried to track the most visible items from
series to series.
